Senor Mex Says: It always amazes me to see the ridiculous misconceptions travelers have about Mexico insurance. Far too many people believe that buying this type of coverage is a waste of time. They assume that things in Mexico are the same as in the U.S. and Canada. They figure that if they are busted without insurance, they will just get a slap on the wrist and a few fines. The reality is that this type of coverage is pretty much required by law. Under Mexican law, all drivers must be prepared to make good on their financial obligations in the wake of an accident. The most common way to demonstrate fiscal responsibility and protect yourself is by carrying quality Mexico insurance. If that happens, you will sorely wish that you could go back in time and buy coverage!
